OH, MY GOD!  You've way outdone yourselves once again. MARC is the greatest live performer I've ever seen, he's far beyond anyone on the country or pop scene today. He's advanced MY ability more in one day than  I have in five years.

Dave, OrangeCounty Songwriters

The performance workshops leverage the dynamics of a group setting to build relationships and improve your songwriting skills in a variety of areas. During these workshops, you will receive instruction in the following areas:

Creation Of The Song – Learn about improving on the formatting of your songs through such things as creating great lyrics, timing, pitfalls to avoid, and knowing your audience and your characters.

Presentation Of The Song – Once your songs are created, they need to be heard. This area addresses how to select your “best” songs and determining how / what to demo and perform. And…who is performing them.

Networking – The art of networking is extremely critical in this industry. Marc-Alan will address this section in-depth…including networking “etiquette” and how to avoid such unacceptable behaviors such as “germing.”

Business Of Music – Deepen your understanding of the inner workings of the music industry, including various organizations, who you should be contacting and how to best present yourself.

During the workshop, individuals will also have the opportunity to present one of their songs (either CD or live) for an on-the-spot critique. This allows the group to develop their “ear” for music / songs and helps you to experience first-hand the reaction from a group. Barnette also offers suggestions on all the aspects of the song…from lyrics, tempo, marketability, etc. This is always a popular part of the workshop and everyone is encouraged to take advantage by actively participating and bringing a song.

Prior to the workshop, each individual completes a “Getting To Know You” form that allows me to understand everyone’s experience and expectations.
